Phlebotomy Technician

Course Description

This course will provide training in Phlebotomy and help students develop the skill to assist a healthcare team in the accurate, safe, and reliable collection and transportation of specimens for clinical laboratory analyses. Blood and other specimen collections are vitally important to the entire health assessment of the patient. Laboratory specimens are used for three (3) important purposes:


  • Diagnostic testing — used to figure out what is wrong with the patient

  • Therapeutic assessment – used to develop the appropriate therapy or treatment of the medical condition

  • Monitoring of the patient’s health status — used to make sure the therapy or treatment is working to alleviate the medical condition

Prerequisites

A high school diploma or its equivalency and a CPR certification (at least one healthcare certification course) are required.

Who Needs To Attend

Anyone interested[ in starting a career in the medical services as a laboratory staff can register for this course.
