Medical Assisting — Clinical Procedures

Course Description

This course prepares clinical medical assistants to perform a variety of routine clinical functions in the medical office, They add to the efficiency and effectiveness of doctors, from internists and pediatricians, to ophthalmologists and chiropractors. Clinical tasks include taking vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration); obtaining preliminary information from patients; preparing patients for examination by the health care provider; assisting the health care provider with procedures; collecting and processing laboratory specimens: drawing blood, giving injections and providing other medications as directed by the health care provider: tang electrocardiograms, removing sutures; and removing and applying dressings (coverings on wounds).
