ACADEMIC POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

ADMISSIONS
NWIHT Admissions and enrollment policies conform to the guidelines set forth by Illinois Statute, 105 ILCS 425 Section 425/15.1. This statute assures that:

A clear and written record exists, clarifying the agreement made between a prospective student and NWIHT;

Prospective students are given full assistance in selecting the most appropriate course/courses and instructional level of the course/courses of study;

NWIHT provides the most relevant, effective, cost-flexible and customized training to prospective students

Admission of International Students

NWIHT is authorized under Federal law to enroll non-immigrant students. As such,
applicants from other countries are welcome to apply with the school and must comply with the following requirements:

- Completion of High School or its Equivalent
Must be at least 17 years old or older

- Complete a NWIHT Application for Admission Form

- Pay a non-refundable fee of Two Hundred Dollars ($200) for processing

- Copy of Passport and 1-94

- Official Transcript of Records from all secondary and post-secondary institutions attended, including a certified English translation, if applicable

- Passing score from the placement test (TABE — Test for Adult Basic Education, to be provided by NWIHT)

- Provide three (3) letters of recommendation

- Completion of USCIS Form 1-134, Affidavit of Support or a notarized statement indicating financial independence

General Admission Procedures:

Applicants should:

Complete a NWIHT Application for Admission Form

Submit a copy of a high school diploma or its equivalent

Provide a valid identification for personal verification [i.e., valid driver’s license or State ID]

Pass the placement test [TABE — Test for Adult Basic Education]

Finalize the study contract for a specific course and/or study track with the NWIHT
director or the designated school official using the NWIHT Enrollment Agreement Form.

Transfer Credits

If applicable, NWIHT may accept transfer credits from other schools with the following conditions:
1. School is an NCA or NCA equivalent accredited institution of post-secondary education
2, Grade of “C” or better
3. Course completed matches NWIHT’s course description and contact/credit hours
4. Course has been earned within the last five (5) years
Student will have to submit their Official (sealed) Transcript of Records either by mail or in person along with a fifty dollar ($50) evaluation fee.
Results of the transcript evaluation will be available in less than a week, under normal working conditions. The Admissions Officer will notify the student by phone regarding the results of his transcript evaluation.
