Statement of Values

Northwestern Institute of Health and Technology is committed in building a dedicated, compassionate community- creating camaraderie between individuals who grow within this school out of the values we all share. We embrace Professionalism, Integrity, Respect and Teamwork in our personal and work interactions. Our shared values empower us to engage in ethical practices in our daily lives and to contribute to our common vision of an ethical society.

Professionalism

Professionalism includes integrity, courtesy, honesty, and willing compliance with the highest ethical standards.

To promote Professionalism, we will:

• Extend courtesy to all individuals regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, parental status, marital status, and age;
• Conduct interviews, tests, and interact with the public in a positive, optimistic manner;
• Commit ourselves to excellence, developing and preserving the ideals of integrity, honesty, competence, fairness, and devotion to the students we serve, members of the faculty and school administration, and the public;
• Avoid situations that will compromise our integrity;
• Learn and follow practices and civilities that encourage respect, diligence, candor, and trust;
• Value each and every individual’s privacy; accordingly, we will not provide or distribute confidential information about any member of the NWIHT community without consent of the concerned;
• Maintain respectful and open communication.

Integrity

Integrity is adherence to high moral values and principles. It expresses itself in honesty, in being forthcoming and truthful when we interact among ourselves and with others. It promotes genuine sincerity in our human relationships both internally and externally.

To promote Integrity, we will:

• Admit our mistakes when we make one;
• Graciously accept the mistakes of others; after all, we are human beings and we are not infallible;
• Assertively tell the truth, but in a timely manner;
• Be direct and transparent;
• Not misstate facts knowingly.

Respect

Respect is treating others with esteem and mutual consideration. Respect establishes a community that encourages individuals and organizations to relate openly and to fulfill their potentials.

To promote Respect, we will:

• Avoid all forms of discrimination, including making racial jokes and comments about one’s ethnic background, verbally and non-verbally expressing biases against another person’s sex, sexual orientation, color, and religion.
• Avoid hostile communication, including talking down on individuals, yelling, shouting and cursing;
• Forgive ourselves and others;
• Listen for understanding;
• Be compassionate;
• Embrace diversity in the workforce and value individual differences;
• We will not interfere with the personal lives of any member of the NWIHT community.

Teamwork

Teamwork is working together to achieve the same goal.

To promote Teamwork,
we will:

• Help solve problems, not create or exacerbate them;
Delegate tasks and assign projects to the most trusted, qualified team member;
• Keep open communication and allow questions;
• Establish realistic expectations;
• Commit thoroughly into getting projects completed;
• Meet our obligations;
• Offer the benefit of the doubt in situations that are unclear;
• Take initiative in helping one another.
