FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

1) HOW CAN I ENTER THE PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAM AT NORTHWESTERN INSTITUTE OF HEALTH & TECHNOLOGY?

The following requirements must be met:
>Must be at least seventeen (17) years of age;
>Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent;
>Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant;
>Must have a current American Heart Associaiton Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare provider (CPR and AED) card valid through the period;
>Must be able to complete the following pre-requisites courses with a grade of “C” or better: College English, Mathematics for Healthcare Professionals, Psychology for Healthcare Professionals, Medical Terminology and Fundamentals of Computer
>Must pass the Practical Nursing Pre-Admission Test;
>Must be willing to undergo a criminal background check;
>Must be willing to undergo drug screening;
>Must be able to submit a Health Record including: pre-entrance medical exam, laboratory test, pre-entrance dental exam.

2) CAN I TAKE MY PRE-REQUISITE COURSES WITH NORTHWESTERN INSTITUTE OF HEALTH & TECHNOLOGY?

Yes, you may, Pre-requisite courses are being offered every month, available in day or nght schedules.

3) I HAVE TAKEN SOME PRE-REQUISITE COURSES FROM ANOTHER SCHOOL. CAN I TRANSFER THEM TO NORTHWESTERN INSTITUTE?

Certainly. You may send in your Official (sealed) Transcript of Records to Northwestern Institute, pay a fifty ($50) dollar evaluation fee and wait for the results in less than one (1) week.

4) CAN I BRIDGE MY LPN TOWARDS AN ADN (Associate Degree in Nursing)?

Yes, Northwestern Institute of Health and Technology has an Articulation Agreement with the City Colleges of Chicago.
